چکیده

Percutaneous renal biopsy is an important tool for defining the type and severity of many renal diseases. Modifications in the procedure have been made from time to time. The latest innovation has focused on more accurate localization of the kidney by ultrasound localization prior to biopsy. From a large series published in the literature it appears that renal biopsy is almost without risk. However, inspite of 40 years of experience with the highly successful procedure, complications of renal biopsy continue to occur(l). We report an unusual complication following renal biopsy.

Pneumothorax, pneumomediastinum and subcutaneous emphysema following closed percutaneous pleural biopsy: a case report

Minimally invasive investigations, such as pleural fluid cytological assessment and closed percutaneous pleural biopsy, are often performed first in the investigation of suspected malignant pleural effusions. Malignant pleural effusions can be diagnosed with pleural fluid cytology alone in most cases; however, closed pleural biopsy is performed to increase the diagnostic yield when pleural flui...

PERCUTANEOUS TRANSTHORACIC BIOPSY USING TRU-CUT NEEDLE

Biopsies of thoracic lesions guidance. 22 of the 1 12 lesions were mediastinal and 83 were pleuroparenchymal. A large-bore 14-gauge Tru-cut needle was used in all patients. Adequate specimens for histologic examination were obtained in 98%. The overall accuracy was 91 % with 9% false negative and no false positive diagnoses. Despite the large size of the needle, the total number of complic...

Assessment of Independent Risk Factors of Developing Pneumothorax During Percutaneous Core Needle Lung Biopsy: Focus on Lesion Depth

BACKGROUND Previous studies identifying risk factors for pneumothorax in percutaneous core needle lung biopsies reported inconsistent and contradictory results. OBJECTIVES We aimed to identify independent risk factors for pneumothorax associated with computed tomography (CT)-guided percutaneous core needle lung biopsy (PCNB). PATIENTS AND METHODS We retrospectively reviewed 591 biopsy proce...
